03-17-12: I made some changes, background, light and some details about the character.
03/05/12: I reduced the ear (not too), modified the quiver and arrows, and two or three shades. Hékéo is not human, some parts of his anatomy differ from ours especially the feet, hands and ears! I wished that the differences are subtle.

Overall Vision Originality Technique ImpactWow. First off, I have to say that the textures of this piece are really amazing. Everything, from the feathers to the skin to the beak, are really realistic.
I also think the the palette of colors that you chose go very well together. It's all very earthy, and I love the brighter red in the bird. Because most of the coloring is more neutral, small hints of the brighter colors are really capturing without being overwhelming.
The level of detail in the shading is astonishing, seriously, it's almost like I could reach out and stroke his back and feel every muscle.
I only have a couple suggestions for this piece. There are a lot of objects that have really light highlights on them, especially the bird beak, the knifes and his skin. I would think that the bird's large eye would also have a little more brightness, or at least one point that reflected the light, but it seems very dull. Just in comparison to everything else, it stood out a little to me.
A couple proportion things too. His ear strikes me as being huge and very angular. Additionally his foot seems off to me. I think part of it is that the strapping on the top of his foot is so dark that it blends into the darkness of the ground. Without that, the foot looks strangely positioned and a tad uncomfortable.
